Is it time for a change in your life?
Are you having nightmares, or nightmarish worries? worried about your kids, and the stress keeps growing? doing the best you can, but life still doesn’t make any sense? Using EMDR, hypnosis, and/or meridian therapies, my clients and I are active partners in making change in their lives. My clients come to me when they need to change something that’s not working, to develop self-awareness, or to better understand their own potential; and we use whatever tools are needed to make that happen. If something in your past keeps you from being successful now, then we will look at your past. If you want your future to look different, we will look at today to see where changes need to be made. If you are sad or anxious, we will look at ways to eliminate those difficulties. My goal is to help my clients – adults and adolescents – achieve insight during difficult periods, and achieve more satisfaction from life’s pursuits. Whether two or three sessions, or several months of collaboration, our goals are understanding, balance, and well-being. Energy Psychotherapy Ancient Chinese medicine is based on energy meridians within our bodies, and has been used for thousands of years to create physical balance. Now we know that we can manipulate these same energy meridians for greater emotional balance as well. When we move into energy psychotherapy, we are including “techniques that involve stimulating the body at discrete locations by holding or tapping, assuming specified body postures and movements, visualization, use of affirmations, expressed intentions and assertions, and more. Many approaches to energy psychotherapy also focus on the relationship among bioenergy, consciousness, thought, intentionality, and spirituality.”(2010). Energy psychotherapy has helped many achieve rapid change when processing everyday emotions such as fear, anger, sadness,or lack of confidence. Solution-Focused Counseling I provide a solution-focused approach to counseling, using a variety of tools such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Hypnosis, Gestalt Psychotherapy, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) — tools that have proven effective whether addressing anxiety, stress, or weight loss. This approach is sometimes referred to as "Brief Therapy," and limits our work to a specific need. EMDR EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a powerful tool for relieving the distress of anxiety, trauma, or loss. This amazing technique allows us to rewire responses that are no longer beneficial – those responses that leave us anxious, sad, or scared. If you or a loved one has difficulty driving over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, speaking before groups, or taking a test in school, this may be the answer you’ve been looking for! Hypnosis Hypnosis simply invokes a state of deep relaxation and focused attention, commonly referred to as a trance – a state you experience frequently but don’t recognize most of the time! When we are doing something repetitive, boring, or even when we are driving, we are commonly falling into trance states. With guidance that state can be used for your benefit. We can work with an underlying experience or misunderstanding that created stress or anxiety, or more problematic imbalances. And we can do that even if a deep trance has not been achieved. Psycho-Spiritual Counseling This simply means that we combine classic counseling with a spiritual perspective, that takes into account your beliefs, energy states, and states of awareness. You may wind up with an expanded view of the world, and can expect to achieve personal growth and a broader understanding.

Spiritual Therapy to Transform Your Inner
Demons to Inner Angels
Anger is just energy we generate when there is a difference between what we want and what we have. There are two types of anger, corrosive anger and authentic anger. Corrosive anger is just energy to change what is, to something worse. Corrosive anger is just unhealthy energy and the ultimate source of our lack of health, abundance and joy. Authentic anger is just energy to change what is, to something better. Authentic anger is just healthy energy and can produce a Garden of Eden on our planet. My publications and coaching are concerned with helping to make you aware of how you can choose to transform your corrosive energy into your authentic healing energy. You can then choose to live a better life, on your journey to the life of your dreams. Only hire me when you are ready to find out how to transform your corrosive energy into useful authentic healing energy to do what you really want to do at your highest levels. Only hire me when you are ready to be grateful and responsible for your own past and present results. One of the major premises of my publications and coaching is that we are totally responsible for our own results from our own decisions. We are the ones who decide what to accept, reject or modify from others. We are the ones who got ourselves to where we are and have made countless previous decisions, including how to respond to the decisions of others. My responsibility is to write and tell what I know has worked for me and some others in my experiences and what I believe so far. I only know what works best for me and some others. You will need to determine what works best for you, since everyone is unique. It is up to you, to find your own inner and outer team resources and your own choice of your spiritual growth path. When you need medical or other information, please go to the medical or other experts of your choice. I am not here for direction, I am just producing information for your consideration and choice. My emphasis is on spiritual health, wealth, and happiness. What happens on the physical level may be or may not be as rapid as what happens on the spiritual level.

Dr. Marcus believes that effective therapy is more than just talking about your problems. Many of us talk to our friends about our problems. Afterwards, we may feel better, but eventually we still find ourselves stuck in the problem. This is when you might consider working with a therapist. A good therapist can help you move beyond just talking about the problem. This is done by exploring not only what you think, but how you feel and how thoughts and feelings influence one another. Change begins to occur when you can clearly see the way your thoughts, feelings and life experiences have lead you to make choices that have been problematic. The hardest part is then working with your therapist to come up with different ways to handle life's challenges despite what you are used to feeling, thinking or doing. The Sex Therapy process is very similar to that experienced with other mental health practitioners. The Certified Sex Therapist will meet with the person as an individual or with a couple in an office setting where an extensive history of the concerns will be taken. The Certified Sex Therapist will note both the psychological and the physical components and will establish one or more diagnoses. After this, a treatment plan will be proposed, usually with your involvement in its development. In some instances, the Certified Sex Therapist may work closely with the person’s physician, nurse, or other therapist or counselor to establish causes and remedies for the problems. In no instances will a Certified Sex Therapist engage in any kind of sexual activity with a therapy patient/client, whether in the office or in any location. Don't let embarrassment or shame prevent you from seeking help and having the kind of sex life you desire. For those of you in relationship, think back to the time when you first met your partner. You saw him/her across the room, and something inside you said, she/he is the one. There was a sense of excitement and passion in you. You eventually meet and start dating. Eventually you start having sex and its passionate and really hot. Eventually you become a committed couple (for straight couples it may even lead to engagement and marriage). Romantic love, is natures way of bringing people together. Unfortunately, this phase does not last. Sometimes, power struggles may get in the way. The good news is that most of the power struggles we have can be overcome. Power struggles are opportunities for growth. They represent the issues we have yet to resolve from our childhood. If we can just put our reactivity on hold, engage in a constructive, safe and open dialogue with our partner, we will eventually see that the conflict dissolves. In couples therapy, Dr. Marcus works with clients on how to communicate and connect in a deep way. It is through understanding and connection that couples regain that romantic feeling and rekindle the passion that was once there in the early phase of the relationship.

Survive an affair/ infidelity ...then thrive as a couple!
Develop the relationship you've always dreamed of having!
From my many years of experience as a psychotherapist, I know the quality of our relationships is central to our entire experience of life. If our primary relationship is not going well, it is hard for us to be truly happy so I am especially passionate about helping couples in crisis, when there has been some kind of betrayal. So many relationships that start out feeling wonderful and exciting end up in frustration and disappointment. In addition, life crises can stress a relationship to the brink. It saddens me to know that couples go through the intense pain of breaking up only to struggle in their next relationship. It doesn't need to be that way. I help couples learn skills that give them immediate relief from their most hurtful encounters and foster deep empathy, understanding and connection. In only a few coaching sessions with your partner, you will learn how to communicate in ways that: * Rekindle friendship and passion * Truly resolve long standing conflict and * Lead to individual growth and satisfaction. I see psychotherapy as helping people access their inner resources, deepen their self awareness, develop strategies for overcoming obstacles and break old habits, and learning coping skills to face the inevitable stresses of life. I am an empathetic, active listener who approaches my clients' concerns with deep respect, honesty, pragmatism, caring and sometimes, with humor. I am results oriented and ensure that my clients can transfer what they experience and learn in my sessions to their real life. I am humbled and honored by the trust my clients have shown me over the years as me I have accompanied them on their journey back to safety and and enriched personal relationships and to more fulfillment and satisfaction with life.
