Helping Angry People
With Childhood Abuse, Trauma and Suicide Loss
Your life doesn't have to be this way. The consequences of the past can impact our moods and our relationships right here, right now. If your partner is half-way out the door, your boss is reprimanding you, and you find yourself increasingly alone as your friends ghost you, it might be time for a change. Maybe one of your friends gets bold one day and says, "Maybe it is time you talked to someone." My clients tell me that therapy has helped them not "get over" a traumatic childhood or relationship, anger problems, or the suicide of a loved one, but put those losses in context, understand how our brain protects us from pain, and find better coping skills to rebuild a life worth living.

Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Board Certified Professional Counselor (BCPC) my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life that have stemmed from those difficult past experiences. I find that once my clients expand their self-awareness, develop a deeper insight, and find the true meaning and purpose of the events in their lives, they often times create new tools and coping mechanisms that better enable them to cope with difficult situations. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, individual psychology, and family system models we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you, your family and your children back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. lease call or email me for an individual, couples or family therapy consultation today. Doing nothing about what is bothering you, will not make it go away. Help is only a click or phone call away.

Counseling Services in North Dallas
Dealing with Anxiety, Mood Disorders, Substance Abuse, Relationship Issues, Trauma or Recovery from Narcissistic Abuse? I am here to help. I offer both in-person and telehealth appointments. My office is conveniently located near Frankford and the Dallas North Tollway. I am affiliated with Curis Functional Health. If I am not the right fit, we have many wonderful providers with various specialties who are also available. I also offer a 12 week anger resolution group (both online and in-person). This program focuses on teaching new skills to better manage the anger response, but more importantly helps clients identify underlying issues which contribute to anger. By addressing these, clients get angry less often and with less intensity. This is an on-going group so clients may start at anytime.

Stronger Families; Stronger Children
Work with a skilled, dedicated, experienced professional who can assist you in dealing with divorce, trauma, and life changes. Therapy focuses on developing relationships within the family through individual therapy for the child, parenting assistance, and family interventions. Life is complicated! Learning to navigate parenting issues, marital troubles, issues from our past, and integrating our world view into our lifestyle can be difficult--especially when we feel so disconnected from others. Counseling From A Christian Perspective Using the Bible in counseling is crucial for a Christian's growth. Learning from the timeless truths of the Bible with someone else can give a perspective and a power missing from other forms of therapy. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from unrighteousness. This type of therapy incorporates both evidenced based therapeutic interventions and Bible verses to facilitate change. 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-Breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. For parents, the only difference in the Christian therapy and typical play therapy is the interventions at home--Bible memory and reading stories from the Bible that touch on specific issues in the child's life. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Helping parents incorporate their world view into their parenting is the goal. Parenting Support Groups | Becoming A Better Parent College-Level Parenting Child Parent Relationship Training [Parenting Support Group] is an educational, supportive class that develops your skills as a therapeutic partner with your child. It teaches you in a supervised environment how to have a special play time with your child. Learn to have fun with your child again! Click here for free resources, blogs, and other content from our clinicians. Discover Freedom From Past Hurts Making Peace with Your Past is a support group for women that focuses on using scripture and group processes to make peace with difficult parts of our pasts. All families and lives are imperfect and God gives us clear help in dealing with imperfection [our own and others']. Two groups per year are scheduled--one in the Spring and one in the Fall. If you are interested in working out a treatment plan for individual or group work, please email Christy. Group space is limited and a first appointment is necessary to determine a treatment plan. For Mental Health Professionals Practicum Experience Practicum students can work side-by-side with Christy and her team of professionals. Learn what its like to be a private practitioner and discover if this is where your love is. Learn play therapy techniques and practice working within family systems to make a difference. Experiences may include co-therapy, group therapy, couples and family therapy, intakes, court appearances [observing] and opportunities to create a published blog. Practicum Students are Master's level students who are in their last semesters before graduating. They typically have all the training but little experience in the 'room'. Supervision Services Offered Christy has over 12 years of play therapy experience. She has worked in multiple areas--private practice, MHMR, and psychiatric residential treatment programs. She would love to help you 'hatch' into the therapist you were meant to be. LPC-interns can choose from two programs. One, Christy will hire you on a contract basis. The second program is one where you may meet with her on a weekly basis for an hourly fee. Both programs are designed to give broad experiences and training while providing state sanctioned supervision hours. Practicum training may also be available.
