Why Wait to Have the Life You Want?
REMOTE SESSIONS DURING CORONAVIRUS: PHONE OR ONLINE
OVERVIEW Together we look at your life to see what works, what doesn’t, and why. We’ll see who you are, the relationships you’re in, and what stops you from having the life you want. We’ll see how you act, think, feel, and relate to others today and how those have been affected by your life experiences. We’ll work to change things so your life does work for you. TRAUMA You may feel anxious, depressed, or alienated. Here you can feel safe, talk honestly about what happened and about how it still affects you, even when other people don't understand or can't stand to hear it any more. I help you understand why you’re reacting as you do, even when you may feel out of control or a little "crazy." You'll learn ways to work through the psychological and emotional impact of what happened so you can get your life back. If you or your family member is a victim of violent crime, you may be eligible for therapy at no cost to you. ADDICTIONS (Substances and Behaviors) You might have difficulty with alcohol or drugs, or you may need help evaluating if that’s true, how great the difficulty is, or what you can do about it. You may also be asking similar questions about sexual behaviors or compulsions, porn, gambling, Internet usage, spending, eating, cutting, or anything else you do that feels questionable or out of control. Some people feel like they are addicted to another person, what sometimes is referred to as "love addiction." GAY/LESBIAN/BISEXUAL ISSUES While I work with heterosexuals, I also work with many gay, bisexual, or lesbian people, both individually and in couples. If you’re in a process of self-discovery, you’ll be the one to decide what your sexual orientation and identity is. If you’re now coming out, together we can consider if, when, how, and with whom you decide to do it. If you’re clear and comfortable with your sexual orientation, I can give you safe place where you can be open about who you and how HIV has impacted your life or your relationships MIND/BODY The mind and body are functionally identical. What you think affects how you feel, and what you feel affects how think. I work at both levels, with people who are interested in doing that. For people who aren't interested in the this work, I am happy to stay strictly in a talk-therapy mode. YOU SET THE COURSE, AND I'LL HELP YOU GET THERE. Are You Feeling Down and Can't Stop Crying? Is Your
Relationship Off Track? I Can Help You Live Better!
How I work: First we will have an introductory conversation on the phone. I will gain preliminary understanding of the problem you need help with. If I will feel that I may not be the right fit, I will provide you with referrals for therapists who specialize in the issue you are seeking a solution for (i.e., pain management). We will also discuss fees. In our first session I will go over the inform consent and office policies with you and will collect data for the intake. I will become very involved with you and we will work as a team. I will ask you what your goals are and after a couple of sessions, I will discuss the treatment plan with you. You will be in a very safe and supportive environment. I will learn to know who you are and what your personality is and I will adapt the therapeutic process to meet your individual needs. We will discuss your progress as we go along and make changes if the need arises. We will also discuss those changes to ensure that we are on the right direction in your path for personal growth.

Online Psychotherapy
I offer an alternative to traditional in-office therapy through secure, HIPAA compliant video sessions on doxy.me. My practice is rooted in accessibility, compassion, and integration, making therapy available to anyone seeking growth, healing, or clarity no matter where they are. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the complex emotional patterns that shape our lives. As an Integrative Therapist, I draw from a variety of theoretical approaches including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, mindfulness-based, and humanistic frameworks. This allows me to tailor each session to the unique personality, needs, and goals of the individual. Rather than adhering to a single model, I help clients uncover what truly works for them, whether it’s developing insight into the past, learning new coping skills, or cultivating emotional regulation in the present moment. My approach emphasizes authenticity and collaboration. I believe that therapy should be a safe and supportive partnership where you can explore your story without judgment. Many clients come to therapy feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or uncertain about how to move forward. Together, we work to transform those feelings into understanding and action. You will find that our sessions balance structure with flexibility, allowing space for both emotional depth and practical problem solving. Online therapy offers the utmost convenience, privacy, and comfort. Sessions can be scheduled at times that fit your lifestyle, removing the obstacles of travel, traffic, and scheduling conflicts. Many clients appreciate the ability to connect from their own home or private space, where they often feel more relaxed and open to self-reflection. For individuals who are apprehensive about visiting a therapist’s office, telehealth creates a sense of safety and ease that encourages engagement and progress. Confidentiality is central to my practice. doxy.me is fully encrypted, secure, and compliant with all federal privacy standards. You can trust that your personal information and session content remain completely private. Therapy is an investment in your well-being and your future. Whether you are seeking relief from stress or anxiety, working through depression or trauma, improving your relationships, or simply striving for greater emotional balance, I provide a compassionate and nonjudgmental space where real change can occur. My goal is to help you develop resilience, insight, and tools that will continue to support you long after therapy ends. If you are ready to begin, reach out to schedule a session. Together, we can create a path toward healing, growth, and lasting change.

Couple and Individual Therapy
I welcome individuals and couples from traditional, non-traditional, heterosexual and lgbtq ifestyles who live in the Northern California Bay Area. My areas of specialization are EMDR for trauma resolution and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. I am Certified as an EMDR Therapist by EMDRIA ( the EMDR International Association) and Certified as an Emotionally l Focused Therapist by ICEEFT ( The International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy). My style reflects a synthesis of cognitive, body-centered (somatic), emotionally focused and psychodynamic approaches to couples, individual and group therapy. INDIVIDUAL THERAPY: Many people who suffer from low self esteem, anxiety, symptoms of trauma or relationship struggles also grapple with negative core beliefs about themselves. Some of the common negative core beliefs include: I'm a bad person, I'll always get it wrong, I'm defective, It's my fault, I'll never feel safe, I'm helpless, I'm stuck and I don't have any choices. Those beliefs usually come from a time when we were profoundly overwhelmed by a frightening, chaotic or unpredictable situation. A type of therapy called EMDR which stands for ( Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be a way to turn around those beliefs and create a new adaptive way of seeing oneself that is grounded in a healthy adaptive adult view of reality. In addition to EMDR, I often incorporate body-centered ( somatic) therapy. Somatic therapy is a way to study how we form our habitual body-based patterns- some of which work very well and others that are not working so well in relation to ourselves and others. In the process, we can learn how to create new ways of organizing ourselves in a muscular-skeletal way that result in greater options and choices in how we live our lives. COUPLES and FAMILY THERAPY: One of my specializations is Emotionally Focused Therapy- an evidenced-based approach to helping couples and families tap into their emotions ( the good, the bad and the ugly) and create a solid foundation for deep, resilient, intimate emotional healing and connection based on trust and understanding.

I utilize several modalities of treatment including Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Solution-Focused therapy, Play theapy, and Sandtray therapy. I mostly work with individuals but also work with their families. I work with all ages of patients who have lost a loved one recently or not so recently to work with them on the grief process. Many ages of patients also experience anxiety that I assist in teaching them anxiety skills management. Many children and adolescents struggle with some sort of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and I work with them on strengthening their executive functioning skills like increasing attention and focus, decreasing impulsivity, etc. I also teach the parents skills to assist their child. Many of the children or adolescents I work with have an emotional or behavioral disorder. I am currently working on a play therapist certification. Understand yourself better, become more free and fulfilled
My practice is trauma-focused, psychodynamic and relational
As your therapist, first and foremost I will respect the courage of your decision to seek therapy and create a foundation of safety, acceptance, and collaboration. I strongly believe that symptom reduction (e.g., anxiety, panic, constant worrying, depression, high stress levels, complex PTSD), and an exploration of the root causes of your most distressing problems are both vital aspects of a helpful therapeutic experience. I foster a therapeutic relationship that honors my clients’ conscious minds as well as feelings, symptoms, and behaviors that they may find confusing and painful, but may be clues to presenting problems. I also consider my clients' current life situations holistically, collaborating with them to explore physical, nutritional, general life style, social support, and self-regulation issues to find areas of resilience as well as those that could be strengthened. Presently, I work with late teens and adults of all ages. I work with clients who struggle with symptoms which may be the aftermath of loss, abuse or other difficult experiences, or are simply perplexed with why they repeat distressing patterns which cause them pain. My clients may enter therapy to explore "why they have such difficulty regulating their emotions", or, "why they continue to pursue relationships that are ultimately painful", or, "why it's so hard to feel anything"; they may also enter therapy to receive assistance with specific issues such as life transitions, relationship difficulties, and work or academic problems. I also specialize in the impact of past and current interpersonal trauma or loss on parenting capacities, and assist my clients when these experiences interfere with being loving and supportive parents in the present. My work blends relational psychotherapeutic approaches, trauma-focused assessment and treatment, and psychoeducation for both clients and their families where appropriate. My trauma studies, which included EMDRIA-approved advanced EMDR training, as well as principles of Internal Family Systems and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, have solidified my longstanding belief that therapy must often go beyond talk and attend to messages from our physical selves that may provide clues to where we are most "stuck". While I have been trained in several modalities and my approach is eclectic, I will meet you where you are presently to address the problems that are most distressing to you.

I work with parents seeking guidance in making the transition to parenthood or a larger family. Often new parents find themselves lacking support or feeling unsure of themselves, sometimes finding themselves turning to books alone to help them navigate their new role. Parents are often expected to express only happiness about having a new baby, or are expected to quickly move past the baby blues, the need for extra help, or any sign of uncertainty about their new role. Partner relationships are often challenged greatly by the changes brought with growing a family. It's a great blessing to be an advocate for people going through this amazing time in their life. Being a doula has given me a great and deep understanding and appreciation of the pregnancy and birth process, I'm well versed in complications, breast-feeding and other physical issues that mothers face. I draw on my counseling skills to direct other issues related to new parenthood- relationship shifts, identity crisis, self-care, and forming a new positive self-narrative, for instance.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists Committed to Helping
People Create and Sustain Meaningful Relationships
We are committed to the healing of distressed and broken relationships because we believe family, relationships, and marriage really do matter. It is our hope that as we help people improve their relationships their lives will be filled with greater happiness and joy. We want to make the world a better place one relationship at a time. At Windows of Opportunity Counseling Services we provide individual, couple, and family therapy and counseling. We believe therapy is about healing, change, and personal and relationship growth. We think that no matter what you have been through or are going through that life can get and be better for you. When you choose to start psychotherapy you are making an investment in your life. Interpersonal and personal distress can manifest in many ways: stress, depression, anxiety, loneliness, compulsive or addictive behaviors (drug, alcohol, or sexual in nature), out of control eating, work problems, relationship conflict, and family discord. These are the types of things you can work toward resolving in therapy.

Find the You in Unique
Do you need help managing anxiety, depression, or stress? Are you having difficulty with anger? Do you have a child that needs assistance with college preparation? Do you want to live a healthier lifestyle but you are unsure in how to begin? If so, please contact me for an appointment. I am a dedicated therapist that loves to see my clients develop in their mental awareness. I will help you resolve the issues that are built up on the inside. I will not promise that therapy will be easy and that all sessions will be happy, but I will say that you as my client will learn coping skills to deal with everyday life stressors. Therapy is my passion and strive to make each session worthwhile. My clients' well-being is important to me and my goal is to make sure that each client knows this. I work with clients from preteens through elderly. I also provide therapy for families, groups, and couples. Because of this I have a wealth of knowledge in assisting people in different stages of life. As a therapist, this is important because depression at age 13 looks totally different than depression at age 35. The two would not be able to be treated in the same manner. All in all, I look forward to working with you and hope to see you soon!

We work with individuals and couples to address issues including trust, vulnerability (physical, emotional), sexuality & sexual identity, communication, and conflict. We often meet with couples who are looking to improve their relationship, enhance mutual understanding and compassion for each other, create a closer connection, heal after an infidelity, handle recurrent arguments and money conflicts, address sexuality (including divergent desires), or decide if they should stay together or part ways. There are many therapeutic approaches used when meeting with a couple. We like to evaluate what approaches to use based on your needs and style as a couple. There isn’t one “right approach” to doing therapy as there isn’t one way to live. We provide education on what we have found useful in relationships. We invite you to look at new ideas and possibilities for living. We encourage you to try new ways of behaving and communicating. We like to learn from you about what you really want in your relationship. We are very interested in what each partner has to say about what has led to their struggle or becoming stuck. We want to know what you have done to change your situation, what has worked and what has not worked for you. We are careful not to duplicate what hasn’t worked. Counselors avoid taking sides because it is counterproductive to long-term success. That said, if we feel one partner needs to make a change in a particular area, we will say so. We have spent years helping men and women from every imaginable background and we are capable of seeing things empathetically from both perspectives. We emphasize the importance of forming a connection with your partner. This means there is an implied understanding of values, a common frame of reference, a series of shared experience and a sense that you are both on the same page. These connections form the bonds that foster trust and promote intimacy. We all need help from time to time and it is a sign of strength and intelligence to know when to seek support. If I have a leaky faucet and the only tool I have is a hammer, just banging on my pipes is only going to make the problem worse. The pipes burst, my basement floods and the foundation cracks. Or I could just call the plumber and he gives me a new tool called a wrench, so next time I have a leak I can fix it myself. Throughout our lives, we improve our skills by taking “courses” and practicing what we learn. If we played sports, we were coached in the basics and practiced them until they became memorized. At work, we were shown how to perform tasks, then got better and better as we repeated the process. To learn cooking or grilling, we followed recipes or observed someone with known abilities, then added our personal touches. Being emotionally healthy is another skill, one that gets little or no attention until failure to do so results in trouble. Imago Relationship Therapy--Individuals and Couples
LGBTQ Welcome--Skype and Phone Sessions Available
Give me a call, especially if you need a good relationship therapist. Even if your partner doesn't want to go to couples counseling, I can give you tools to talk and listen differently. All relationships go through the romantic phase, but inevitably, whether it's within 18 minutes, or 18 months, the Power Struggle starts. That's when relationships run into trouble. Remember, couples don't go to couples counseling ONLY when they are ready to break up--and many can save their relationships if they don't wait until it's too late. One couples session can change the way your relationship sounds. Twelve sessions can change your entire outlook. Many people come to therapy or counseling when they have tried traditional routes, and are now looking for something non-traditional, or simply out of the ordinary. Sometimes desperate times call for unique measures. I have been trained in Shamanism by Alberto Villoldo, Joan Poelvoorde, Michael Harner, and Robert Moss. As part of this work, I am dedicated to environmental awareness, including wilderness preservation and global environmental conservation.

Experienced, caring and trained therapist who provides therapy that is evidence based and backed up by research to be effective for anxiety, depression, addiction, post postpartum, anger management, grief and loss and other areas of mental health. First and foremost I work from a person centred approach and incorporate narrative therapy, mindfulness and brief solution focused therapy. Telling our stories of grief, pain, love and triumph can release the grip they may have on us or build us up as we so deserve. I also utilize aspects of cognitive behavioural therapy throughout my sessions as our thought processes can strongly impact our story writing and how we interpret ours and other’s stories.

I believe that we all have our own answers inside of us, and that sometimes we need a listening ear, or some additional support to figure out how we want our lives to be different and more satisfying. As an excellent listener, and one who is empathic and understanding, I have helped many clients achieve their own respective goals in life. I have been working in private practice for over 20 years, and have a lot of experience working with clients presenting with many different life problems. I see adults, teens, and children, in individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy. Some of my areas of expertise include depression, relationship issues, parenting issues, grief, adjustment difficulties, job stress, etc. I have a particular area of expertise working with incest survivors, and actually all adult survivors from troubled childhoods. I am EMDR trained, and also use cognitive behavioral therapy in my approach to clients, though I tend to be mostly psychodynamic. I welcome the opportunity to consult with any clients who may be interested in seeking counseling!
