Counseling for Individuals, Couples, and Adolescents
Individuals, Many specialities.
I counsel individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Chapline is highly skilled at the use of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Clinical Hypnotherapy, Ego State therapy and psycho-education. She will use her vast repertoire of additional modalities based upon a particular client's need. I enjoy my work! I love the field of psychology because it is so vast. I care about helping people move toward psychological wellness and motivating and inspiring them to reach goals. I consider therapy to be a valuable component of the walk of one's inner journey toward self completion. Psycho-education permits understanding of the origin of problematic symptoms, and how an individual became well. This type of knowledge creates skills that are transferable across life events and time.

I also am able to offer EMDR for the relief of pain due to trauma. I incorporate mind, body and spirit into the work with clients to assist in the healing of all aspects of the individual. I respect that initiating therapy is a difficult step to take. Sharing the personal details of your life with someone you just meet, can be overwhelming and feelings of uncertaining may be present. I offer a free initial 1/2 hour consultation. This allows clients to meet me and see if I am a good for them. Finding the right therapist should not be an expensive venture. I am compassionate and understanding, I am not here to judge, I am here to help. I can utilize my training in family and play therapy to enhance the process for both children and adults. Each client is unique and requires a individualized approach and plan to best suite their spicific needs. My goal is to have each and every client leave with a sense of relief and satisfaction. .

Understand yourself better, become more free and fulfilled
My practice is trauma-focused, psychodynamic and relational
As your therapist, first and foremost I will respect the courage of your decision to seek therapy and create a foundation of safety, acceptance, and collaboration. I strongly believe that symptom reduction (e.g., anxiety, panic, constant worrying, depression, high stress levels, complex PTSD), and an exploration of the root causes of your most distressing problems are both vital aspects of a helpful therapeutic experience. I foster a therapeutic relationship that honors my clients’ conscious minds as well as feelings, symptoms, and behaviors that they may find confusing and painful, but may be clues to presenting problems. I also consider my clients' current life situations holistically, collaborating with them to explore physical, nutritional, general life style, social support, and self-regulation issues to find areas of resilience as well as those that could be strengthened. Presently, I work with late teens and adults of all ages. I work with clients who struggle with symptoms which may be the aftermath of loss, abuse or other difficult experiences, or are simply perplexed with why they repeat distressing patterns which cause them pain. My clients may enter therapy to explore "why they have such difficulty regulating their emotions", or, "why they continue to pursue relationships that are ultimately painful", or, "why it's so hard to feel anything"; they may also enter therapy to receive assistance with specific issues such as life transitions, relationship difficulties, and work or academic problems. I also specialize in the impact of past and current interpersonal trauma or loss on parenting capacities, and assist my clients when these experiences interfere with being loving and supportive parents in the present. My work blends relational psychotherapeutic approaches, trauma-focused assessment and treatment, and psychoeducation for both clients and their families where appropriate. My trauma studies, which included EMDRIA-approved advanced EMDR training, as well as principles of Internal Family Systems and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, have solidified my longstanding belief that therapy must often go beyond talk and attend to messages from our physical selves that may provide clues to where we are most "stuck". While I have been trained in several modalities and my approach is eclectic, I will meet you where you are presently to address the problems that are most distressing to you.

How I work: First we will have an introductory conversation on the phone. I will gain preliminary understanding of the problem you need help with. If I will feel that I may not be the right fit, I will provide you with referrals for therapists who specialize in the issue you are seeking a solution for (i.e., pain management). We will also discuss fees. In our first session I will go over the inform consent and office policies with you and will collect data for the intake. I will become very involved with you and we will work as a team. I will ask you what your goals are and after a couple of sessions, I will discuss the treatment plan with you. You will be in a very safe and supportive environment. I will learn to know who you are and what your personality is and I will adapt the therapeutic process to meet your individual needs. We will discuss your progress as we go along and make changes if the need arises. We will also discuss those changes to ensure that we are on the right direction in your path for personal growth.

Compassionate Care with Options for Treatment
“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” Unknown. “Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.” Anonymous Hi. I understand that when you're hurting, you need understanding and sensitivity. You might be struggling with a difficult psychological disorder or just need help untangling the complex web of life. Perhaps you are struggling with a difficult relationship, need to overcome a serious trauma, or want to surmount a weight or smoking problem through hypnosis. I am also certified to perform past life regression, which might afford you self enrichment or provide the key to understanding aspects of thoughts and feelings you have today. Therapy is not a “one size fits all” discipline and fitting treatment to my individual client's personality and needs is a hallmark of my practice. I am skilled in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing,), Hypnosis, Past Life Regression, Relationship Counseling, or regular talk therapy, and will apply whichever technique or techniques in our sessions that promise the greatest benefit to you. The following are some of the issues I work with: Depression, relationship issues, anxiety, chronic pain, divorce, gay/lesbian issues, grief, OCD, spirituality, trauma, dissociation, family and sexual problems. This is not an exhaustive list and I encourage you to write or call to discuss whatever has brought you to consider using my services.

Couple and Individual Therapy
I welcome individuals and couples from traditional, non-traditional, heterosexual and lgbtq ifestyles who live in the Northern California Bay Area. My areas of specialization are EMDR for trauma resolution and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. I am Certified as an EMDR Therapist by EMDRIA ( the EMDR International Association) and Certified as an Emotionally l Focused Therapist by ICEEFT ( The International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy). My style reflects a synthesis of cognitive, body-centered (somatic), emotionally focused and psychodynamic approaches to couples, individual and group therapy. INDIVIDUAL THERAPY: Many people who suffer from low self esteem, anxiety, symptoms of trauma or relationship struggles also grapple with negative core beliefs about themselves. Some of the common negative core beliefs include: I'm a bad person, I'll always get it wrong, I'm defective, It's my fault, I'll never feel safe, I'm helpless, I'm stuck and I don't have any choices. Those beliefs usually come from a time when we were profoundly overwhelmed by a frightening, chaotic or unpredictable situation. A type of therapy called EMDR which stands for ( Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be a way to turn around those beliefs and create a new adaptive way of seeing oneself that is grounded in a healthy adaptive adult view of reality. In addition to EMDR, I often incorporate body-centered ( somatic) therapy. Somatic therapy is a way to study how we form our habitual body-based patterns- some of which work very well and others that are not working so well in relation to ourselves and others. In the process, we can learn how to create new ways of organizing ourselves in a muscular-skeletal way that result in greater options and choices in how we live our lives. COUPLES and FAMILY THERAPY: One of my specializations is Emotionally Focused Therapy- an evidenced-based approach to helping couples and families tap into their emotions ( the good, the bad and the ugly) and create a solid foundation for deep, resilient, intimate emotional healing and connection based on trust and understanding.

If Nothing Changes, Nothing Changes!
Taking the first step...
I believe in taking a holistic approach to counseling. Since most issues are interrelated, positive change in one area begins a ripple effect of change in others. My training and over 25 years of clinical experience is diverse, addressing issues related to relationship problems, anxiety, depression, addictions, trauma, grief and stress. In addition, I offer two women's groups and an individualized Anger Management Program. Since 1995, I have been an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Human Relations at the University of Oklahoma. Courses taught include, Understanding Addictions, Stress Management, Chemical Dependency, Human Emotions and Advanced Counseling Skills. One of the most effective interventions I use is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, (EMDR). It is enormously successful in treating PTSD and is often used with complicated grief issues. EMDR came to Oklahoma in the aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing, on April 19, 1995. This tragedy resulted in widespread trauma and grief, throughout the state. A team of volunteer EMDR therapists immediately flew into Oklahoma City and worked tirelessly for several months, providing this therapy to victims, survivors and rescue workers. I was fortunate to have been in the group of 300 licensed therapists who were trained to carry on their work. As a result, I became certified in EMDR and have incorporated it into my therapy practice. It has allowed my clients to more effectively cope with and resolve a wide variety of issues and problems affecting their quality of life. EMDR continues to be one of the fastest, most valuable resources for individual healing. I am a Licensed Marital & Family Therapist, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Master Addictions Counselor and a Certified EMDR Therapist. My practice utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy, showing the connection between thoughts, feelings and behavior. I also offer assertiveness and stress management training, in addition to chemical dependency counseling and chemical dependency interventions.

Although I worked with children for many years, my forte is seeing clients starting at age 18 and above.

Feeling anxious or sad? Still grieving a loss?
Have you recently lost a loved one and are battling overwhelming grief? Are you having family conflict and/or relationship issues? Have you recently come out or are struggling with the gender transition process? I believe counseling is a collaborative process between the counselor and the individual(s) involved. My goal is to help you discover the tools you need to be successful in all of your interpersonal relationships throughout your life. My experience ranges from career counseling, working with grieving children and families to counseling and advocating for the LGBT community. I am also trained to administer the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. While I work with a variety of clients, my passion and experience is working with grieving adults and families. I've found that healing is best accomplished by telling your story to someone who cares, using art for personal expression, and through group counseling.

There Is Light at the End of the Tunnel!
Change and growth are often preceded by some difficulty, personally, professionally or in relationship. I congratulate your willingness to get support in overcoming the challenges you are facing. My intention is to assist you in living from genuine strength and authenticity. I will help you resolve problems and achieve happiness. In our work together, you will discover that difficulties and obstacles in life are often blessings for in reality we grow through adversity. This process of growth liberates energy bound in unresolved issues, so that energy can be used to create a life of your own design. I employ a learning paradigm. A learning paradigm does not presume anything wrong with you -- it simply presents things you can learn to make your life more easeful and productive. I utilize a spiritual psychological approach that is based on the understanding that our true essence is spiritual and that our body, mind and emotions are vehicles for spiritual expression. This essence is present in every moment and we have the opportunity to connect with and respond to its guidance. You will discover that every psychological limitation or difficulty provides a special kind of opportunity -- to see where you have lost touch with essential aspects of your being and to recover these lost parts of yourself. Once recovered these energies can be directed toward creating a life that is rich and satisfying. Reach out if you are interested in exploring possibility beyond what you currently can imagine, to actualize a more joyful, peaceful life. NOTE: I am an out-of-network provider. I do not take any insurance.

There Is Hope!
All of us run into life struggles at some point in time. Sharing the challenge with someone else can be the difference that makes the difference. With ample opportunity to talk about all that’s bothering you, we can also focus on possible solutions or ways to manage the situation. Though the atmosphere is friendly, and it times it may feel like you’re talking with an understanding friend, the difference is that the focus is on your concerns. You never need to worry about the kind of impact this discussion will have on me, as your therapist, or how it will affect our relationship. Two decades of experience have provided me with plenty of opportunity to make sure you understand that your concerns are valid and there is a way to make sense of your situation, while finding hope for a better tomorrow. Relationships are one of the greatest gifts and greatest challenges of the human experience. Having earned a PhD in Marriage and Family therapy, my specialty is working with relationships. This is not limited to couples, but also to parent/child relationships and work relationships. Because we are all social creatures relationships affect us in many ways, and the challenges they present are sometimes overwhelming. As a therapist, I can work with individuals, couples, families and organizations to inspire hope and develop solutions. This is my passion and I am very fortunate to get to share it with others. When meeting with my clients, it is essential that I have an understanding of what they want from the process. As a psychotherapist trained in a wide range of treatment styles, I tailor my approach to the unique circumstances of each individual client and case. I adapt my methods to you. It is a highly personalized process and more than you can ever get from reading the best of books that are designed to appeal to broad population or problem. Armed with years of education and decades of experience, I am here to provide the support and understanding necessary for you to discover the next steps in your journey. In my home-based office, you will have the opportunity to be in a relaxed and private environment. Generally, I reserve 90 minutes for sessions - double what most therapists offer. For your convenience, I am also available for appointments in your home or office if coming to West Boca Raton does not work for you.

ABA Therapy Treatment for Autism
Community/In-home and Center-Based
Kaleidoscope ABA provides one-to-one ABA therapy services in New Jersey and Massachusetts that empower children to create their own journey in life by reaching their highest potential. Kaleidoscope ABA Therapy Services provide intensive ABA therapy to clients in their home, community, or at one of our centers. Services individually tailored for the needs of your child. Assessment and Treatment Planning Our relationships always start with a comprehensive assessment by a Behavior Analyst that captures specific levels of behavior at a baseline to be used in the subsequent establishment of treatment goals. A carefully constructed, individualized and detailed behavior-analytic treatment plan is developed. The plan is followed up with ongoing and frequent direct assessment, analysis, and adjustments from our Behavior Analyst, based on a child’s progress as determined by observations and objective data analysis. Focused Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Treatment for Autism Focused ABA therapy services are provided to individuals who need treatment only for a limited number of key functional skills or have a specific acute problem behavior in which its treatment should be the priority. Treatment generally ranges from 10-25 hours per week of direct therapy. However, certain treatment programs for some behavior may require more than 25 hours per week of direct therapy. Comprehensive ABA Treatment Our Comprehensive ABA looks at producing changes across a broad set of functions including cognitive, adaptive, social, and emotional domains. Treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder often involves 30-40 hours of one-to-one (1:1) direct therapy per week. Young or newly diagnosed children may start with a few hours of therapy per day, with the goal of increasing the intensity of therapy as their ability to tolerate and participate permits. The goal is to ultimately decrease hours of therapy per week when the child has met a majority of the treatment goals and is moving toward discharge. Social Skills Programs One of the most prevalent challenges for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder is in the area of social skills. This includes difficulty with observational skills, eye contact, play interactions, taking another’s perspective, making inferences, sharing enjoyment, and building relationships. Our Social Skills treatment programming works on functional skills including (but not limited to) establishing social communication skills, natural environment safety skills, and independent leisure skills making it possible to appropriately participate in family and community activities. One of our goals is to develop the lifelong ability to experience these events in a positive productive manner. Parent Participation Training Outside of treatment, it is important for parents to have the ability and techniques to reinforce the skills their child learns in therapy by incorporating them into daily routines. As with any skill, practice is critical. Parents actively involved in their child’s therapy often increase the progress made by their children. Our treatment plans include the appropriate parent participation and training to ensure they can reinforce their child’s development beyond the therapy setting.
