Specializing in EMDR, SE, IFS, CT, Couples, & Group
I maintain a general private practice with a specialty in the treatment of trauma with offices in the Flatiron District of Manhattan and in Montclair, New Jersey. Whether you have experienced a major traumatic event, suffer from from acute or chronic anxiety and/or depression or whether you are feeling frustrated or stuck in repetitive patterns in your work or personal life, effective psychotherapy can help bring about empowerment, growth, and positive, lasting change. I am an active participant in each treatment and will work relationally with you to address your concerns. I also specialize in the use of more body-based modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and SE (Somatic Experiencing). I have found, and current research is validating, how essential a healthy mind/body connection is to facilitating any real and lasting shifts from old habituated patterns to new, more adaptive ones, and I have found these modalities particularly effective in this regard.

Why Wait to Have the Life You Want?
REMOTE SESSIONS DURING CORONAVIRUS: PHONE OR ONLINE
OVERVIEW Together we look at your life to see what works, what doesn’t, and why. We’ll see who you are, the relationships you’re in, and what stops you from having the life you want. We’ll see how you act, think, feel, and relate to others today and how those have been affected by your life experiences. We’ll work to change things so your life does work for you. TRAUMA You may feel anxious, depressed, or alienated. Here you can feel safe, talk honestly about what happened and about how it still affects you, even when other people don't understand or can't stand to hear it any more. I help you understand why you’re reacting as you do, even when you may feel out of control or a little "crazy." You'll learn ways to work through the psychological and emotional impact of what happened so you can get your life back. If you or your family member is a victim of violent crime, you may be eligible for therapy at no cost to you. ADDICTIONS (Substances and Behaviors) You might have difficulty with alcohol or drugs, or you may need help evaluating if that’s true, how great the difficulty is, or what you can do about it. You may also be asking similar questions about sexual behaviors or compulsions, porn, gambling, Internet usage, spending, eating, cutting, or anything else you do that feels questionable or out of control. Some people feel like they are addicted to another person, what sometimes is referred to as "love addiction." GAY/LESBIAN/BISEXUAL ISSUES While I work with heterosexuals, I also work with many gay, bisexual, or lesbian people, both individually and in couples. If you’re in a process of self-discovery, you’ll be the one to decide what your sexual orientation and identity is. If you’re now coming out, together we can consider if, when, how, and with whom you decide to do it. If you’re clear and comfortable with your sexual orientation, I can give you safe place where you can be open about who you and how HIV has impacted your life or your relationships MIND/BODY The mind and body are functionally identical. What you think affects how you feel, and what you feel affects how think. I work at both levels, with people who are interested in doing that. For people who aren't interested in the this work, I am happy to stay strictly in a talk-therapy mode. YOU SET THE COURSE, AND I'LL HELP YOU GET THERE. Even in times like these, while anxiety is contagious, so is genuine connection and compassion. If you are struggling with stress, anxiety, PTSD, depression or spiritual growth--I would love the opportunity to talk to you about what a better tomorrow would look like. I use clinically-minded, cognitive behavioral tools to help implement positive change for deeper personal fulfillment, presence authenticity and joy by creating a therapeutic space that is non-judgmental, safe and adaptable to what you need. I use person-centered practices and can implement meditation, poetry, walking therapy and art therapy in session as well. I offer traditional talk and tele-therapy with practices based in: CBT, ACT, person-centered and mindfulness. I use research-based methods to provide treatment based in effectively proven methods. I use positive psychology throughout session and am happy to refer you to resources that help outside of session, whether that's a book, meditation, yoga, etc. Creating a compassionate, safe and non-judgmental space for personal growth and fulfillment is of utmost importance in my practice. I sometimes incorporate meditation, art therapy and mindfulness techniques in session (if you feel these techniques would be a good fit for you) to address anxiety, trauma and difficulties coping with major life transitions.

AASECT certified sex therapist
Specializing in queer identity and consensual nonmonogamy
When we understand ourselves and our desires, we access our power. I help you learn what you want, and clear the obstacles out of your way. When the unconscious dictates our thoughts and behaviors, we are adrift in its hidden urges, fears, and conditioning. Getting to know ourselves brings these mysterious workings into the light, so that we can choose what we do with them. If you're feeling lost at sea, I can help you find your boat and compass. Once you're back at the helm, riding out the waves can be exhilarating! Gender and Sexual Expansion I know that in navigating the world as a queer person, it can be challenging to find the right fit in a therapist. Whether you identify as non-binary, trans, genderfluid or anywhere on the spectrum of non-heteronormativity, it's critical to talk with someone who gets it. When it's time to further explore a facet of your identity, sexuality or relationship, you can feel safe expressing yourself with me as you are without your therapist assigning your struggles to your lifestyle or identity. I counsel sex workers, individuals in polyamorous or other consensual non-monogamous relationships, and participants in kink or BDSM lifestyles. When you walk into my office, you can rest assured that you will be met with compassion and non-judgement.

My practice caters primarily to adults including struggles with anxiety, depression, and stress (both workplace and personal). A major reason that many people seek treatment with me involves relationship difficulties with or the loss of a spouse, significant other, or family member. With compassion and understanding, I try to help people by focusing on the underlying personal issues that are causing the current difficulties. With greater insight and self awareness, a person is able to unknot the repetitive, often self defeating patterns that are causing such pain for them and feel more of a sense of empowerment in their lives. With this knowledge, together we are able to navigate the desired changes for a more peaceful, robust, and fulfilled life.

Asperger's Counseling
at the Center of the Universe
I use traditional "talk therapy" to meet you where you are while applying the techniques of mindfulness based stress reduction, cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal neurobiology and other approaches to help you uncover your authentic self and ultimately reach your optimum potential. I believe that no one understands your experience as well as you do. I also believe real growth and positive change are most possible when a person feels safe and supported. For that reason, I strive to create an honest, sincere, non-judgmental and personable environment for the purposes of counseling and therapy. Autism and Asperger's are my specialties. I have over 15 years of clinical experience working with Children, Teens and Adults with ASD. I also provide counseling and support for parents and family members who are caring for a loved one with ASD and conduct workshops on academic skill development. I offer Social Awareness and Confidence Group for Children, Teens and Adults. Groups are intentionally small (no more than 3 in a group) and carefully selected to ensure a good fit for all. Rates for groups are much lower than individual therapy.

We may focus on the hear and now, address past issues, and often connect the two to address and resolve current distress. I listen and find listening to be a major part of the therapeutic work. Get the right therapy for you.
Don’t let your fear limits you! Since 2002, I have been helping women manage difficult situations when they feel like they are losing control, and find the tools they need dealing with shame, guilt, perfectionism and buried dreams. Have you ever felt like your losing control? “How do I keep from falling apart?” Sometimes it is okay to “just be.” But it can only happen if you give yourself permission. The toll of building a career, being a mother, keeping on top of household chores, maintaining some piece of a social life, staying physically fit, and all the rest we have to do…..after all this – it can leave us feeling pretty depleted and lonely. Reach out and get the right therapy for you. Contact us for more information.

My fees for individual sessions range from £60 to £120 depending on the time and frequency of sessions. I charge £60 for a 45 minute consultation. I offer couples fifty minute sessions, with fees ranging from £80 - £120 (£120 for consultations). Fees are payable by cash or cheque at each session, or by cash, cheque or BACS transfer on an advance schedule. If you are unable attend a schedueled session, I may be able to offer you alternative session times within the same working week, subject to availability and given notice of at least one week. Otherwise, I charge for all missed and cancelled sessions once we agreed a session timetable. Sessions begin and end on time and, since I have no waiting room facilities, please arrive no more than a couple of minutes before your session is due to begin. What we talk about in session is confidential, with the following qualifications: • I discuss my work with a supervisor and will use only your first name • With your prior informed consent, I may contact other health professionals • I may need to break confidentiality where there is serious risk to you or others or in compliance with legal requirements • Your contact details are held in confidence by a professional colleague, who has instructions to contact you in case of an emergency if I am unable to do so Where a third party has contracted for us to work together (such as an Employer Assisted Scheme or Insurance Company), I may be required to submit brief written records of our sessions to this third party. I am happy to discuss the content and format of these notes and you may see these with at least one week’s notice.

Hi, thank you for checking out my profile and services. This is the ONLY LIFE we have...many of us are just in survival mode, often struggling to get through our day. I help people not only understand ways they can survive this crazy life but to thrive. Over the last 20 years we have learned more about our brains and how our brain and body function to stabilize not only our physical health but our mental health. Armed with this knowledge, I work to help my clients understand how their individual history integrates with their current environment AND teach them how to make sustainable life changes...making the most of this ONE LIFE we have!
