“Talk therapy can help you become your true self. I have worked extensively with adults and have a good understanding of childhood issues.I work with individuals and families from an interpersonal approach with a focus on emotions.I believe that all people have resources to solve problems.I am easy to talk to and I have great listening skills. I have worked many years with adolescents in public education. I have had great success with them because I understand what it is like being an adolescent today. I also have an extensive background in substance abuse. I am a licensed professional counselor offering individualized services including consultation, skill development, problem solving, and individual therapy. I do substance abuse evaluations with recommendations if requested.I have 20 years working with adolescents and adults. I have expertise in substance abuse, grief issues, and gender identity. I also work well with adult men as they tend to be resistant to getting help and as a male therapist I understand their needs.I also have experience with couples and clients who are waiting for organ donation.I can accept insurances as full payment if needed and possible.”

Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy for Individuals & Families
Anxiety, Depression, Eating Disorders, Relationships, Career
As a mindfulness-based therapist, I offer a warm and welcoming space for you to explore yourself and your life experience. This is the basis for discovering your own capacity to make meaningful change and growth in your life. My practice integrates the gentle openness of Eastern wisdom with the illuminating methods of Western psychology. Mindfulness helps cultivate a compassionate presence of mind and body and supports the more active process of Self-inquiry. Self-inquiry practices are drawn from the fields of Depth Psychology, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Voice Dialogue, Meditative Inquiry, The Work of Byron Katie and somatic therapy methods such as EMDR and Hakomi. Self-inquiry reveals and releases those beliefs and feelings that are inhibiting a fuller expression of your potential and aspirations. With greater clarity comes greater capacity for change. Our meeting time will provide you with a spacious and dynamic atmosphere for self-discovery and life transformation. I am a California licensed Psychologist with over 15 years of clinical experience providing Individual, Group, Couples and Family Therapy. I work with clients of all ages including adolecents and children. Intensive, Compassionate, Treatment Focused On Your Goals
Are you needing more focus and overall life success? Are you struggling with bad relationships or bad habits (gambling, pornography, drugs, alcohol)? I teach a three-step process for developing a new life plan which will help you get "unstuck". Working with me is about focusing on strengths and goals and discovering your core strengths. My office is a safe place to dream, question, and grow. The reward IS worth the risk. One of my favorite vision quotes: "Vision is greater than baggage." I specialize in making relationships, attitudes and habits focus like a laser beam on the life goal you're seeking. I'm trained by the California Office of Problem Gambling to serve clients and families of clients with gambling addiction. (Funding for treatment to be available by mid-summer 2010) Use my online scheduling service or my 24/7 answering service to schedule your appointment. Zari, my certified therapy dog, is with me most of the time. She provides one more reason working with me is a safe place to create the outcomes you want. Email me for personal introductory video.

Counseling for Individuals, Couples and Families
We work with individuals, couples and families to help them find the most promising paths to achieve their goals. Our partnership focuses on your personal strengths, and we customize each session to meet your specific needs. Our Specialties Include: • Aging • Caregiver Stress • Family Relationships • Long Term Care Issues • Palliative & Hospice Care • Anxiety & Depression • Sexual Health & Intimacy • Grief & Loss • Self-Image • Spiritual Enhancement What can I expect in my first session? Your first appointment will be an initial evaluation. Counseling sessions will begin after your initial evaluation and can be scheduled weekly, depending on your needs. Supervision: Who do we supervise? • Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns • Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Interns How does supervision work? MHC Interns and MFT Interns usually receive 1 hour of clinical supervision weekly while providing direct clinical services to clients. Supervision would be directed toward core competencies. Clergy: Clergypersons, seminary students (or CPE interns/residents) and their families often face distinct challenges that necessitate special attention about their sense of calling, managing critical relationships and integrating new discoveries about themselves. Compared to the general public, clergypersons are more at risk for burnout, depression, and chronic illness. The perception that the clergyperson is "the problem solver" can be extremely distressing and harmful to the individual, families and congregation. I provide a respectful and safe environment in which matters of faith and personal challenges can be explored and resolved. Life Coaching: What is life coaching? Life coaching is a collaborative process where specific steps are identified to successfully achieve desired goals. While psychotherapy focuses on healing the past, coaching focuses on the present and is an active process for people who are committed and ready to take concrete steps towards their own success. What topics can be addressed in life coaching? • Health and wellness • Career change • Time management • Education • Social skills • Dating • Lifestyle changes • Family/adolescent communication • Spirituality

Health mind. Healthy Family.
Treatment is results oriented, which means we work together at the beginning to define the changes that are meaningful to you. In a basic sense, psychotherapy is for thinking about feelings. We are all part of systems, be they family, work or society. The outcome is more freedom to be yourself. With children, treatment approach is family-centered. In the long run, the best therapist for your child is you, the parent. Parent consultation is an integral part of treatment for children and teens. Play space, art therapy and parent observation available. Psychological testing and family meetings are options. In Couples Counseling or Marital Therapy the patient is the relationship. In couples treatment, i thoughtfully guide your interactions to encourage better understanding of each other. This approach reduces the tendency to blame one another for differences, and leads the two of you into your own manner of accepting them. Pet-Assisted Therapy (PAT).

Psychotherapist
I’m a trained psychotherapist with 15+ years experience working with adults and adolescents. I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, OCD, depression, self-sabotaging behaviors, and relationship problems. I integrate various treatment approaches and theories in my work with clients, including somatic experiencing, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, attachment theory, spirituality, and buddhist meditation. I work in an empathic and supportive environment, helping clients to rapidly get to the core issues which keep them stuck in their lives, unhappy in relationships, or chronically depressed, angry, or anxious. Almost always, what creates suffering is the avoidance of painful feelings and/or experiences. When we avoid these painful feelings, we become more anxious, more depressed, or more angry. This leads to a vicious cycle of problems within ourselves (i.e, depression) or in relationships, which cause us even more suffering. By bringing to the surface the deep and buried, often complex, underlying thoughts, emotions, and experiences and working them through (feeling them in the body, understanding their source), this frees them up. And the unwanted feelings (anxiety, depression) or behavior melt away on their own. This then allows us to be more connected to both ourselves and others, to have more intimacy in our relationships and to feel more fulfilled in general. Using this approach, significant and lasting change can happen rather quickly, much quicker than most other therapies out there. And because these changes occur at a deep level, they tend to be lasting.

Individual counseling is one of the most common ways people participate in the counseling process at Therapy2Thrive™ Pleasanton. The individual counseling relationship between client and therapist becomes a vehicle for positive change as you gain awareness regarding the issues that are brought into therapy. Couples counseling is different from Individual Counseling because the focus of the counseling relationship is the relationship between the two partners rather than the therapist with each individual. We work with evidenced based therapies for couples counseling. Child play therapy is an important area of treatment at Therapy2Thrive. Developmentally, children often communicate their fears and worries in largely a non-verbal way. Your Therapy2Thrive™ therapist interacts with your child’s inner world through the strategic use of imaginary play, art, games and, other symbolic activities. This process of “Play Therapy” helps children cope with difficult emotions, create solutions to their problems, and develop healthy self-esteem. Therapy2Thrive™ child counselor understands the important role parents have in their child’s life. Therapy2Thrive™ works with teens to support their development of themselves while still maintaining their relationship to their families. The Therapy2Thrive™ family therapist supports the family’s overall health and well-being through skill development and shared growth. Group counseling provides a setting where a group of people come together, usually on a weekly basis, to explore, learn and grow through the collaborative sharing of the group’s members. Come join us at Therapy2Thrive™ to Thrive Again!

I work with adults and teens.
I work mostly with men who are feeling alone, angry, and ashamed. Most men in our society experience profound isolation and dissatisfaction with their lives, which they think is the way it's "supposed" to be. This couldn't be further from the truth. Our work together addresses these issues so that you can be alive and free. I believe that humans heal through connecting with others and I hope to make that connection with you. My approach also takes into account the larger forces that we have to deal with on a day to day basis in order to help therapy be more effective and lasting. I work from a Psychodynamic and Systemic framework but my honestly and authenticity is offered above all else.

Steve Cox Counselling The main aim of my practice is to allow people to be and become themselves, to enhance their self-acceptance and awareness and harmonise the relationship between themselves and the world. By engaging in a process where empathy, understanding, valuing and authenticity are experienced at high levels, positive transformation tends to take place. Ordinarily this sort of interactivity is rare in people’s lives, yet when a client and skilled therapist work together with focussed attention, life-changing possibilities emerge. My job is to facilitate your ability to function more fully, to listen and communicate as deeply as possible; paying attention to the whole person and thus promote a relationship whereby you can explore and discover your own growth. Most people come to counselling/psychotherapy for help when there is pain and confusion in their life, to embark on this form of self-help takes courage. The terms ‘counselling and psychotherapy’ are interchangeable – I work with the same high degree of attentive focus and presence, regardless of what name I give to therapy. The process of therapy is not simply a matter of therapist-offered conditions, but one of connection – the client with the therapist creates the therapy interactively and each bring their worlds with them. Professional Experience I have been a counsellor/psychotherapist since 1994 and I have a wide of range of experience that includes: Mental health organisations in Hampshire and the surrounding area: The Priory, Mind, Rethink (the former National Schizophrenia Fellowship), and Parklands Psychiatric Hospital. Before this I was the lead psychotherapeutic practitioner and Manager for St. Michael’s Hospice (North Hampshire) Bereavement Services. Live a Life without Limits!
Psychotherapy | Wellness Coaching
Thank you for visiting my site. I am a licensed therapist and wellness coach whose specialties include: obesity/weight management, bariatric surgery, self-esteem, disordered eating, emotional eating, self-esteem and body image, life transitions, depression, anxiety, stress management, decision making, communication skills, and anger management. WHO I WORK WITH I provide both therapy and life coaching services and am particularly passionate about working with the specific challenges faced by young adults living in the Bay Area. My specialty areas include life transitions, navigating your 20’s and beyond, self-esteem, body image, disordered eating, anxiety, dating and relationships, healthy communication, and entrepreneurial stress. In addition, I have extensive expertise working in the field of weight management and supporting clients who are considering, or who have already undergone, bariatric surgery. MY APPROACH First and foremost, I believe that it’s the relationship between the therapist and client that creates the foundation for change. My clients will tell you that I’m accepting, hopeful interactive, and often incorporate humor (as appropriate) in my work. I believe deeply in the power of positivity and personal connection and offer a highly personalized approach (blending psychotherapy and coaching techniques) tailored to fit each of my client’s unique needs, personality, and preferences. I also believe that you are the ultimate expert on your own life. It’s my job, however, to ask the right questions and act as your guide. I’ll help you identify your strengths and talents, develop self-awareness, and gain confidence where you need it. I’ll challenge you at times and provide feedback on the thoughts and behaviors that may be keeping you stuck. A BIT MORE ABOUT ME... My life has been a series of adventures (both exhilarating and heartbreaking) and I’m a prime example that you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. It took me a long time, and a lot of mistakes, to feel like I was finally getting life right. This is why am so passionate in guiding others through their toughest times and helping them live a meaningful life with intention and direction. I find happiness in nature and in the color green. I value friendship and a good belly laugh above all things and will never turn down an opportunity to listen to live music or sit in the sunshine. I fill my free hours with family time, road trips, being creative, and learning how to be a better ME. I’m left handed and was voted Most Shy in junior high school (yeah, I’ve come a long way).
