Are You Feeling Down and Can't Stop Crying? Is Your
Relationship Off Track? I Can Help You Live Better!
How I work: First we will have an introductory conversation on the phone. I will gain preliminary understanding of the problem you need help with. If I will feel that I may not be the right fit, I will provide you with referrals for therapists who specialize in the issue you are seeking a solution for (i.e., pain management). We will also discuss fees. In our first session I will go over the inform consent and office policies with you and will collect data for the intake. I will become very involved with you and we will work as a team. I will ask you what your goals are and after a couple of sessions, I will discuss the treatment plan with you. You will be in a very safe and supportive environment. I will learn to know who you are and what your personality is and I will adapt the therapeutic process to meet your individual needs. We will discuss your progress as we go along and make changes if the need arises. We will also discuss those changes to ensure that we are on the right direction in your path for personal growth.

Online Psychotherapy
I offer an alternative to traditional in-office therapy through secure, HIPAA compliant video sessions on doxy.me. My practice is rooted in accessibility, compassion, and integration, making therapy available to anyone seeking growth, healing, or clarity no matter where they are. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the complex emotional patterns that shape our lives. As an Integrative Therapist, I draw from a variety of theoretical approaches including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, mindfulness-based, and humanistic frameworks. This allows me to tailor each session to the unique personality, needs, and goals of the individual. Rather than adhering to a single model, I help clients uncover what truly works for them, whether it’s developing insight into the past, learning new coping skills, or cultivating emotional regulation in the present moment. My approach emphasizes authenticity and collaboration. I believe that therapy should be a safe and supportive partnership where you can explore your story without judgment. Many clients come to therapy feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or uncertain about how to move forward. Together, we work to transform those feelings into understanding and action. You will find that our sessions balance structure with flexibility, allowing space for both emotional depth and practical problem solving. Online therapy offers the utmost convenience, privacy, and comfort. Sessions can be scheduled at times that fit your lifestyle, removing the obstacles of travel, traffic, and scheduling conflicts. Many clients appreciate the ability to connect from their own home or private space, where they often feel more relaxed and open to self-reflection. For individuals who are apprehensive about visiting a therapist’s office, telehealth creates a sense of safety and ease that encourages engagement and progress. Confidentiality is central to my practice. doxy.me is fully encrypted, secure, and compliant with all federal privacy standards. You can trust that your personal information and session content remain completely private. Therapy is an investment in your well-being and your future. Whether you are seeking relief from stress or anxiety, working through depression or trauma, improving your relationships, or simply striving for greater emotional balance, I provide a compassionate and nonjudgmental space where real change can occur. My goal is to help you develop resilience, insight, and tools that will continue to support you long after therapy ends. If you are ready to begin, reach out to schedule a session. Together, we can create a path toward healing, growth, and lasting change.

All of us hit roadblocks in our lives. Often the chaos of life presents a situation or event that causes stress and anxiety. You may not know how to think about the problem let alone what to do about it. In addition, feeling unhappy, unfulfilled, or unmotivated, does not require an event to provoke pain. I'm talking about a need to be heard, listened to, …… understood. If you’re depressed or anxious, always angry or simply feeling unmotivated, we can work toward putting that puzzle inside you together. What we are seeking is change. Something that we can measure that helps you make more effective choices, or reduces your stress, or alters patterns in your behavior that have gotten in your way or simply helps you understand yourself and your life in a less complicated way. In addition to indvidual therapy, I work with many couples who have hit crossroads in their relationships and we try to find that common demominator of communication, that point where each partner will choose to listen to the other. Not an easy task, I relish the struggle and invite couples willing to take the leap.

I am experienced in couples attachment therapy and emotionally focused therapy approaches that are proven effective with adults. We offer individual, family and group counseling for a wide variety of your concerns and issues. We also give talks and workshops on many mental health issues . I also founded a Drink Moderation program called Motivational Recovery. This 6 week program, based on a Harvard research study, and practiced in Europe and Canada for dozens of years, allows the problem drinker the choice of learning to drink moderately or choose abstinence. I am a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. I find hypnosis a wonderful adjunct to quickly uncover, explore, and heal issues from past childhood trauma and experiences, present fears, and future anxieties. These issues or patterns, once helping us survive childhood, can now be making our lives unmanageable. Releasing past negative issues, whether through traditional therapy, or hypnosis, can help us reclaim our sense of trust and our ability for intimacy and sexuality without fear and guilt. I also specialize in counseling for sexual addictions. Many perceived sexual "addictions" are not really "addictions", but a result of our not being able to really connect with anybody. One way to tell if you are engaged in healthy or unhealthy sexual activity is how out of control you feel and are you causing others and yourself pain. Is it a recent stressor or problem that you just can't seem to change? Are you having health issues that are causing you pain, worry, and frustration? Is it a relationship that is causing you a lot of conflict and stress? Have you experienced an incredible loss of someone you love and you are mourning? Do you have memories of trauma that are intruding in your mind, making it difficult for you to feel grounded and at peace today? Struggling through these types of difficult experiences and dealing with painful feelings is something that you do not need to do alone. However, contemplating going to counseling for the first time, or returning to therapy to work on some new or old issues is an anxiety provoking process. It is easy to tell ourselves that we don't have time, we'll be okay without the help, or we can't afford it. However, there is something happening for you right now that brought you to this place at this moment, as you are reading this message. I encourage you to think about what you really need and what you are searching to find. Whatever is happening for you, I imagine you have a need and interest in talking to someone about it and receiving some encouragement and support. I will strive to develop a caring and supportive relationship with you, and provide a place where you can explore all of the questions, thoughts, struggles, feelings, and emotions that you have about your particular life challenges and experiences. Clients often pursue counseling because of specific issues or because life has become more stressful and difficult as their previously used coping skills begin to fail. Past issues, losses, traumatic events, and present day transitions factor in to create struggles and issues that need to be worked through successfully. I believe that in working together as a team to find new, more constructive coping skills, the client can move from just surviving to actually thriving in their day-to-day environments, finding contentment, peace, and joy in and from life once again. I employ play therapy in my work with children as young as three years of age, as well as the use of other psychoeducational and therapeutic activities with adolescents, adults and families to help them make the needed changes. I am also Board Certified as a Professional Christian Counselor and incorporate Grace-Based Biblical Counseling in my work with families.

I believe that the heart of successful counseling and psychotherapy is a trusting, professional relationship with thier therapist . More than ever, people need a safe, private place to talk about what really matters. As a therapist for over thirty years, I have experience working with clients presenting a wide range of concerns. Together we will work to replace ineffective patterns with successful coping skills. I am experienced working with individuals, families; adolescents and parent child relationships. In my experience with couples I have seen a wide variety of styles. A key to most successful couples is thier ability to communicate and work through issues. When issues are resolved they seldom reappear in future interactions. Couples generally come into therapy becasue they want to improve or change something in thier relationship. Couples will learn to identify strengths in themselves and each other, improve listening skills; and learn more effective problem solving techniques. My clinical training and specialty is treating anxiety, depression, and issues related to traumas and Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.

They are very uncomfortable, but are usually understood not to be dangerous. Most people float with them while the adrenalin burns off and within a half an hour or so, feel recovered and may feel a little “off” for an hour or so afterwards (like they just ran an Olympic sprint). A panic attack is a sudden and severe onset of anxiety which may include, for example, heart racing, difficulty breathing, feelings of dread and needing to escape, light-headedness or dizziness. AGORAPHOBIA: In most instances, Agoraphobia refers to the experience of great emotional distress in, or avoidance of situations where one fears having a panic attack. In other words, it often accompanies Panic Disorder. Situations include shopping malls, church services, parties, restaurants, airplanes, bridges, freeways, doctors offices and even medical and dental procedures such as MRIs where the patient feels trapped and afraid of having a panic attack or in some cases a more limited symptom (not quite panic). Again, the underlying fear here would be either physical harm; social humiliation; or losing mental control and somehow not being able to get help. OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or OCD may take a variety of forms. Six of these seem to account for most of OCD. Many sufferers experience more than one form and symptoms may change over time. GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER. These patients have frequent episodes of worry, often many times a day. They worry excessively about such things as paying bills, traffic accidents, illness, etc. Their anxiety goes up and down as the individual is confronted situationally or mentally with a worried thought. SPECIFIC PHOBIAS. These include for instance, fear of heights, flying, driving, public speaking, closed spaces, or animals. These individuals usually know their fears are exaggerated but like all anxiety disorders they continue to wonder “what if.” Thus, they either avoid situations or endure them with much distress. DEPRESSION. Unlike an anxiety disorder, clinical depression often affects mood in many situations which are not stressful in and of themselves. Getting easily frustrated over small things is a common symptom of Clinical Depression. Depressed mood, tearfulness, loss of interest in normally pleasurable activities, lowered feelings of self worth and suicidal feelings are common symptoms. Getting increasingly frustrated or irritable, having constant ruminative worry, difficulty concentrating or remembering things, problems sleeping or with appetite can all feel like symptoms of anxiety. But they are also common symptoms of clinical depression. SITUATIONAL STRESS. Marital problems, grief over loss of a friend, work conflicts, or financial uncertainty are all examples of situational stress. These stressors may be temporary, but can also be quite distressing and impairing and can lead to more serious problems over time such as an anxiety disorder or clinical depression.

Effective Trauma Treatment with EMDR
My practice specializes in treatment trauma, both individual and complex, with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is an evidence/research model that is successful in the treatment of recent and past traumatic events. EMDR is especially helpful to clients who have experienced trauma given it is not an exposure treatment model and does not required extensive talking about the traumatic incidents. The first two sessions are used to develop a psychosocial history and to identify the specific events to be desensitized with EMDR. Prior to treatment of traumatic events, clients create and practice realization tools to help with the success of the therapy. Traumatic incidents are scaled on the Subjective Units of Disturbance Scale ( 0 to 10) with 10 being the most severe. The goal in treatment is to bring the level of distress for the trauma to 0 or neutral. In addition, I specialize in working with Homicide Survivors, an individual who has had a member of their family murdered. I use the EMDR and the Recent Event Protocol to focus on and desensitize the event for the victim.

I am a private practicioner accepting most insurances as well as cash and credit cards.. I see adults, children, & adolescents for a variety of emotional and behavior issues. I utilize several modalities of treatment including Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Solution-Focused therapy, Play theapy, and Sandtray therapy. I mostly work with individuals but also work with their families. I work with all ages of patients who have lost a loved one recently or not so recently to work with them on the grief process. There are all ages of patients who are experiencing a mood disorder such as depression or bipolar disorder that I see to help them utilize skills to cope with and change their patterns of thoughts. Many ages of patients also experience anxiety that I assist in teaching them anxiety skills management. Many children and adolescents struggle with some sort of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and I work with them on strengthening their executive functioning skills like increasing attention and focus, decreasing impulsivity, etc. I also teach the parents skills to assist their child. Many of the children or adolescents I work with have an emotional or behavioral disorder. I am currently working on a play therapist certification. The above are just a few of the many issues I have worked with during the last 23 + years of experience. I have also worked with people who have eating disorders, relationship conflicts, job stress/issues, adults and children experiencing divorce issues, substance abuse, compulsive gambling, gender identity issues, selective mutism, sensory processing disorders, attachment issues, etc.

Effective Psychotherapy for Individuals
+ Partners (LGBTQ/ Open + Poly relationships welcome)
Although often difficult periods of change can give us opportunities to bring our lives more in alignment with what has true value and meaning for ourselves. I work with people during important transitions in their lives, for instance either starting or leaving a significant job or relationship. Communication, trust, intimacy and/ or sexual issues win your relationship? I am very comfortable working with traditional, open/ poly and queer relationships. I can assist you and your partner(s) to develop better communication and understanding around sensitive topics such as betrayal, intimacy and trust. I use an approach called EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) developed by Dr Sue Johnson. Clinical research shows that 90% of couples report significant improvement within 12-20 sessions of EFT. As former Director of the Eating Disorders program at Community Institute of San Rafael, Marin, I work with people who obsess that if they only had the perfect weight their lives would work out. So many of us through over dieting and body hatred have lost our connection to ourselves. The body instead of being home for our psyche/ spirit becomes the battleground. I work with clients to end their battle with food and their bodies. Look at my video describing the popular teleclass series for how to empower yourself during the holidays especially when dealing with stressors around food and family: "Empower Don't Devour!' Do you feel emotionally stuck in the past? You might be suffering from trauma. I help my clients move through past traumatic experiences using EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) This well researched method has fast and effective results in working with people suffering from trauma. I also help my clients release the cellular and muscular memory of the trauma (which is where trauma is often stored) using somatic psychotherapy. This is an approach that taps into body awareness and mindfulness, which does not involve touch. Finally I have found Depth Hypnosis to be a highly effective tool for helping my clients get out of stuck places and create the change they want.
