Why Wait to Have the Life You Want?
REMOTE SESSIONS DURING CORONAVIRUS: PHONE OR ONLINE
OVERVIEW Together we look at your life to see what works, what doesn’t, and why. We’ll see who you are, the relationships you’re in, and what stops you from having the life you want. We’ll see how you act, think, feel, and relate to others today and how those have been affected by your life experiences. We’ll work to change things so your life does work for you. TRAUMA You may feel anxious, depressed, or alienated. Here you can feel safe, talk honestly about what happened and about how it still affects you, even when other people don't understand or can't stand to hear it any more. I help you understand why you’re reacting as you do, even when you may feel out of control or a little "crazy." You'll learn ways to work through the psychological and emotional impact of what happened so you can get your life back. If you or your family member is a victim of violent crime, you may be eligible for therapy at no cost to you. ADDICTIONS (Substances and Behaviors) You might have difficulty with alcohol or drugs, or you may need help evaluating if that’s true, how great the difficulty is, or what you can do about it. You may also be asking similar questions about sexual behaviors or compulsions, porn, gambling, Internet usage, spending, eating, cutting, or anything else you do that feels questionable or out of control. Some people feel like they are addicted to another person, what sometimes is referred to as "love addiction." GAY/LESBIAN/BISEXUAL ISSUES While I work with heterosexuals, I also work with many gay, bisexual, or lesbian people, both individually and in couples. If you’re in a process of self-discovery, you’ll be the one to decide what your sexual orientation and identity is. If you’re now coming out, together we can consider if, when, how, and with whom you decide to do it. If you’re clear and comfortable with your sexual orientation, I can give you safe place where you can be open about who you and how HIV has impacted your life or your relationships MIND/BODY The mind and body are functionally identical. What you think affects how you feel, and what you feel affects how think. I work at both levels, with people who are interested in doing that. For people who aren't interested in the this work, I am happy to stay strictly in a talk-therapy mode. YOU SET THE COURSE, AND I'LL HELP YOU GET THERE. Counseling and Therapy
Perhaps you have reached a point in your life in which something has to change; the sadness, anger, confusion or depression have become too great a burden to carry. Perhaps you have been a victim of profound brokenness and long for healing and a brighter future. Or perhaps you desperately want to be a good parent, but it seems like everything you have tried hasn't worked. If this is you, I would be honored to come alongside you and offer my assistance. It takes wisdom to recognize when a problem exists and courage to do something about it. As your therapist, you honor me by sharing your life with me. I will bring the best that I know from my study and experience. I will actively listen to your concerns, offer real solutions and provide relevant feedback. I will always have compassion and empathy for you in all that we do. I value you as a person in need of respect and care and will always treat you with highest dignity.

I have had experience treating people of all ages and walks of life. The one thing I have found that ties each of us together is the innate desire to progress and better ourselves. In life there will be specific circumstances, life transitions, relationship dynamics and/or traumas that may require us to seek out support and understanding. I have dedicated my professional career in trying to do just that for my clients and their families. Therapy can be an intimidating venture, therefor I have built my profession in creating an environment that makes my clients feel comfortable and safe. I use an eclectic approach in deciding techniques and/or therapy styles to utilize in session. I have learned that therapy has to be as unique as the individuals/couples/families I treat.

Therapist specializing in anxiety, panic and chronic worry
Therapy for individuals, couples, tweens, and teens
I specialize in anxiety, fear, chronic worry, and panic and enjoy helping people discover how to move forward towards their dreams and goals. I work collaboratively with my clients, from tweens and teens to adults, bringing forth their strengths, abilities, and inner resources. I also work with couples in stress and transition, helping them to get back to responding instead of reacting, listening instead of arguing, and re-discovering what they stand for and desire as a couple. My personal experience with an anxiety disorder and panic attacks led me on the search to get my life back. I went to many therapists over the years and felt like a failure because their traditional behavioral-based techniques just didn't work for me. Finally, I found my own path out through the combination of Mindfulness-Based therapies, Self-Relations Psychology and Mindbody Attunement. You do not have to live your life in service of fear and anxiety, and current scientific research proves that we can be free of what Dan Siegal calls, "the mental traps of the mind" in his groundbreaking book, Mindsight. My personal motto is: "Manage Your Life Not Your Anxiety.

"Knowing Yourself Is the Beginning of All Wisdom"- Aristotle
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #80907 specializing in providing psychotherapy, counseling, and mental health services for adolescents, teens, individuals, couples, and families. I provide services at my private-practice offices in both Torrance and Long Beach. I have over 10 years of experience working in the social service and mental health fields with a wide variety of issues, populations, and cultures. I have presented clinical and academic work both locally and internationaly, have taught psychology and philosophy at various colleges, and am currently teaching psychology at Long Beach City College. Taking that first step toward getting help or seeking a greater knowledge of Self can be the hardest part and I understand that. I have faced many obstacles in my journey through life, and am grateful to now be in a position to help others. I focus on providing a safe environment in order to help you speak freely, share your story, ask difficult questions, and face challenging issues in a confidential exchange. In beginning this inquiry, today you are one step closer to finding answers. Sometimes circumstances befall us in our journey through life that can leave us feeling lost or confused with various questions. These are some of the ways in which those questions surface: Is something holding you back in life? Is something getting you down that you feel you can’t share with anyone? Do you question why you made certain choices in life? Are you struggling in your relationships? Are you at a crossroads in life? Do you question the meaning of life? Do you crave a better knowledge of Self? Does your past have too much influence and control on your present? Are you seeking personal and relational development? Do you want to attain a new way of seeing your self so you can create a new way of being? If you have questions like these or similar ones, therapy and counseling may be able to help. In begining this search and inquiry for yourself, today you are one step closer to expressing yourself and answering questions so that you can feel a stronger sense of Self-empowerment on a positive path to growth and well-being. As a depth psychotherapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating and affirming everyday. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand how they effect you in the present in order to resolve challenges in your life and create a new way of being. By utilizing a variety of therapy approaches and techniques chosen to both suit who you are a person and address the issues you bring forth, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I have also studied philosophy at the University of Liverpool in England, and am open to discussing any of life's difficult questions, spirituality issues, and existential themes that may be running through your mind. If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. I feel that every individual is unique; therefore every therapeutic relationship is unique. For therapy to be effective, it is essential that you find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and understood. The following is a brief introduction to my philosophy and practice to help you decide if I am a good match for your needs. What I value most about therapy could be described with these concepts: Authenticity. Empathy. Mindfulness. I believe that we as humans are very skilled at denying feelings that are scary or difficult. Problems occur when these repressed or denied feelings are projected out onto others or into destructive patterns of behavior and negative thought processes. I believe in the power of insight to foster change. I feel that psychotherapy is a collaborative experience, and that we participate in a journey together. The therapeutic relationship provides opportunities to examine past and current relationships with others and with the Self. I believe in the power of the “here and now.” By observing and reflecting upon what occurs within a session, we are able to examine and work through the deeper conflicts that occur in your life outside of therapy. By becoming mindful of the feelings and experiences that occur in the safe, contained space of the therapy room, light is shed upon deeply rooted impulses, losses, wants and needs that are often denied and locked in the shadows of the psyche. I respect the difficulty of undertaking the therapeutic journey, and therefore consider myself challenging yet empathic. I consider myself an active therapist, yet the session is not about me…the session is your time. I work with adults and adolescents on an individual basis.

Life is a journey, and in seeking therapy you are taking a step to shape that journey. Choosing a therapist can be difficult, complicated by therapy jargon. However, I will provide a safe environment and a non-judgemental ear for you to explore your life and its infinite possibilities. You will determine where you want to go and I will work with you to help you get there. I look forward to hearing from you. My approach is Eclectic combining Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral and Solution-Focused therapeutic interventions. To put it simply, we will examine your past, evaluate your present and take steps towards your desired future. I am an active, collaborator who will work with you to achieve your goals. I am open, honest and caring and will provide a safe place for you to continue your journey of self-discovery. I believe in accenting and utilizing your strengths so that you incorporate them into your daily life. I will support you and challenge you. I believe that any gains from therapy are in direct proportion to the participation of the client. In other words, I expect you to work at your therapy.

Therapy Is Not a Lifestyle.
Therapy is not a lifestyle, it is a process. Dealing with the difficulties of life can cause distressing feelings which can interfere with your relationships and general well being. My hope is that when confronted by such distress, our work together will serve to guide you through these obstacles. Used as a tool, therapy can restore or discover your sense of balance. As your therapist, my role is to assist you in utilizing your strengths to attain that goal. Through this process, we will identify the influences or circumstances that decrease your satisfaction and discover the tools needed to overcome them. No matter if you're experiencing anxiety, depression, or general dissatisfaction, we will work as a team to identify your goals and use your strengths to achieve them. We will create the tools that work best for you to maintain your balance and utilize should you experience distress in the future. Using brief-solution focused therapy or an insight-oriented long term approach, my clients have overcome grief/loss, identified strategies for coping in difficult relationships, developed parenting skills, resolved childhood trauma, eliminated self destructive behaviors and navigated phase of life difficulties. We will apply the approach that best suits you.

Are You Ready to Move Forward with Your Life? Give Me a Call
Therapy is a transformational process. If you are having a difficult time, you are going to need help navigating the struggles in your life. Two of the most common reasons that people come to therapy are they LACK BALANCE in their lives and have NOT BEEN HONEST with themselves. I can certainly empathize with clients who are anxious about or even fear change. Ambivalence regarding change is a common human struggle. However, if you are truly committed to eliminating your current distress, I would love to help in your journey toward a more fulfilling and rewarding life. I provide my clients with practical tools to effect change, leading to tangible results that bring significant improvement to their quality of life. I specialize in examining how past issues impact your current ability to make healthy decisions, engage in fulfilling relationships, and increase work/home productivity and satisfaction. My main focus is to help you maximize your emotional health and well being. I can help you recognize and overcome negative patterns of behavior that keep you from achieving your full potential. If you are READY TO MOVE FORWARD with your life, CALL ME. Lets get the process started TODAY!

Mindful Therapy
Mental Health Counselor / Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91105
Therapy with YOU in Mind.
I am a licensed psychotherapist and passionately believe in cultivating health, well-being, and emotional resilience. I bring this passion to my work and I am dedicated to help others in the process of achieving a more balanced life. I have been in private practice for 13 years and have offices conveniently located in Pasadena and Beverly Hills. I believe good mental health begins with an ability to connect the dots of our individual “stories” in order to develop a coherent narrative and "make sense" of that story. To accomplish this, I collaborate with my clients utilizing a variety of interventions including mindfulness practices and EMDR to assist in emotional regulation and symptom relief. I also help my clients identify specific coping strategies that may have brilliantly served them in childhood and adolescence but may no longer be useful or needed today. I help individuals understand themselves, parents better understand their children and help partners express themselves to each other more effectively. My clients are excited by our work and share that they often feel more hopeful and resilient after our sessions. Additionally, they acquire practical tools to take into their day-to-day lives. My current practice includes adults and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties. I also see couples, families and children. I have a special expertise in working with the adoption community and facilitate various groups and workshops throughout the year for adoptees as well as adoptive parents and birth parents. I conduct workshops promoting adoption awareness for educators and mental health professionals. I co-chaired and presented at the First Annual Adopt Salon Conference in November 2012. Featured presenters included Nancy Verrier, Adam Pertman, Marlou Russell and many other leaders in the adoption field. Additionally, as a California approved Clinical Supervisor, I provide supervision and guidance to interns and trainees accruing experiential hours toward MFT licensure. My areas of expertise include: • Relief from depression, anxiety and suffering • Helping couples and families communicate more effectively • Adoption issues: I work with adoptees, adoptive families and couples who are considering adoption. I facilitate support groups and psycho-education groups several times during the year for all members of the adoption and foster care community. • Adolescents struggling with school stress, concentration, peer relations and esteem issues • Parenting concerns • Grief, trauma and loss

Rehearse for Your Life!
Compassionate Work on Relationships W/ Self & Others
My practice can be summed up with the words of e.e. cummings: We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit. I call my work REHEARSE FOR LIFE because in our safe confidential sessions we can practice those difficult conversations and confrontations with ourselves, our families, our bosses and our loved ones. We can look at the choices we have before us and see what are the consequences of acting out in those circumstances. I have had a great deal of success working with problems of ADDICTION and COMMUNICATION ANXIETY. A Registered Drama Therapist and Marriage and Family Therapist, Bradford began his work in Creative Arts therapy working for the renowned STOP GAP THEATRE COMPANY of Southern California (the leading provider of drama therapy in the country- doing over 1000 events a year). Bradford worked in battered women’s shelters (with the women and their children), facilitated at Hoag Hospital in the inpatient drug and alcohol rehab program, worked with terminally ill children at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, as well as foster care, juvenile hall and many other outreach programs for at risk kids and adults. He does a program at the VA working with the Vets in what he lovingly refers as "Karaoke Therapy", as well as ongoing seminars at American Academy of Dramatic Arts, AFI, and other schools and organizations. Call me. Let's talk about how to move you forward into your light.

We all deserve to feel seen, included, and understood, no matter who we are. As a LGBTQ+ affirmative therapist, my aim is to help you better see yourself in all aspects of who you are, feel more included in relation to those around you, and experience a greater understanding of how you fit into a wider world. Maybe you’re exploring your non-binary gender for the first time. Maybe you’re supporting a transgender family member or partner. Maybe you’re working through relationship challenges as an LGBTQ+ person. Together, we can explore what “seen,” “included,” and “understood” mean for you and how you can achieve them. As a queer and transgender person myself, supporting other LGBTQ+ folks is my personal and professional passion. I strive to create safe, inclusive, judgement-free spaces for clients to explore, heal, and grow. While therapy can be hard work, I'm prepared to work as hard as you are and I'll be there to affirm and support you through the whole process. Reaching out for help can be scary. You're more than valid to feel this way and you’ve been through so much to get this far! I believe you have amazing strengths and vast resources within you and that our work together can help you unearth them. I’m trained in the therapy process, but you’re the expert of your own life. Pasadena Trauma Therapy, Inc.
If you are living with TRAUMATIC events from your past, ranging from insult, abuse, humiliation, violence, attachment wounds, or even subtle disappointments, therapy could be a safe space to address these injuries. Through a collaborative approach and taking into account the mind & body, I join my clients on a journey of exploration, growth, and healing. I can assist you in reconnecting with yourself, feel grounded, and help manage your life more smoothly. My specialties include working with trauma (emotional, sexual, physical, neglect, incest, rape, etc.), attachment issues, dissociation/multiplicity, general relationship issues, anxiety and depression, fears/phobias, grief & loss issues, etc. I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence-based treatment approach shown to help children, adolescents, and their caretakers overcome trauma-related difficulties. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR), Trauma Resiliency Module(TRM), and Brainspotting are a big part of my practice. All modalities are very effective in treating traumas. EMDR is a form of psychotherapy that has been successful in helping people who suffer from trauma, anxiety, panic, disturbing memories, nightmares, etc. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping) while the client attends to past memories and triggers, in efforts to decrease or eliminate emotional distress connected to the memory. TRM is a somatic approach that helps clients with traumatic stress reactions by learning skills to help stabilize the mind and body. Clients will learn to track body sensations and bring balance back to the nervous system. I am a Certified TRM practitioner. Brainspotting is a somatic therapy that helps clients access the subcortical (non-verbal) part of the brain, where trauma is typically stored. According to the creator of brainspotting, David Grand, "where you look affects how you feel." Since our eyes gives us access to the subcortical brain, Brainspotting uses the visual field as a way to helps release stored memories. I also have sexual abuse survivor's groups, for both men and women.
