Get help with communication problems
Has your relationship become like roommates or a war zone or you just feel that something's missing but you don't know what it is? Maybe you feel the connection is lost. You may both feel isolated, hurt and angry. In therapy I'll help you to improve communication. We'll unpack "old baggage" from the past to understand its impact on the present. You may be longing to get your needs met and to feel heard. We'll tackle issues such as escalating arguments, walls of silence, infidelity, shame and anger. I offer you interactive, nonjudgmental guidance. I use my insight, empathy and sense of humor to help you. Let's talk. I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation, For struggling couples it's rarely just one person's problem, it's the dynamic between you, and it can change. In working with me, you'll each feel heard and learn to truly listen. You'll develop greater empathy for each other. Intimacy that you've lost can return. We may unravel the pain of old or new relationship wounds still affecting both of you. Every couple is different and I strive to meet you where you're at. In my 30+ years of experience, I have helped a great many individuals and couples of varied ethnicities, religions, classes, gender identities and sexual orientations. By working with you interactively, empathically and respectfully, I can help you too.

Counseling and Therapy
Perhaps you have reached a point in your life in which something has to change; the sadness, anger, confusion or depression have become too great a burden to carry. Perhaps you have been a victim of profound brokenness and long for healing and a brighter future. Or perhaps you desperately want to be a good parent, but it seems like everything you have tried hasn't worked. If this is you, I would be honored to come alongside you and offer my assistance. It takes wisdom to recognize when a problem exists and courage to do something about it. As your therapist, you honor me by sharing your life with me. I will bring the best that I know from my study and experience. I will actively listen to your concerns, offer real solutions and provide relevant feedback. I will always have compassion and empathy for you in all that we do. I value you as a person in need of respect and care and will always treat you with highest dignity.

How I work: First we will have an introductory conversation on the phone. I will gain preliminary understanding of the problem you need help with. If I will feel that I may not be the right fit, I will provide you with referrals for therapists who specialize in the issue you are seeking a solution for (i.e., pain management). We will also discuss fees. In our first session I will go over the inform consent and office policies with you and will collect data for the intake. I will become very involved with you and we will work as a team. I will ask you what your goals are and after a couple of sessions, I will discuss the treatment plan with you. You will be in a very safe and supportive environment. I will learn to know who you are and what your personality is and I will adapt the therapeutic process to meet your individual needs. We will discuss your progress as we go along and make changes if the need arises. We will also discuss those changes to ensure that we are on the right direction in your path for personal growth.

In my experience, and according to research, the biggest factor in how well therapy works is the client-therapist relationship. That’s one reason you can expect me to be genuine, empathetic, positive, and affirming. Also, I don’t have a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. Instead, I will work with you to custom-fit a therapy experience based on your unique needs and expressed concerns.

You are here, reading this page, because you are seeking something. You want something more or different even if you cannot verbalize what that is. Perhaps you experience that need more as a feeling than a knowing of what it actually looks like. However, you do know that you are not happy with the way things are right now and that you want and need change. You might even be a little scared of what it means and of what might happen. Even positive change can be scary. Regardless, we both know you are hurt and are so tired of carrying around that pain. It is heavy, suffocating at times, and sometimes you worry that you will crumble under its weight. You want more but are not sure how to move out of your pain. You might feel afraid that no one can help you. You are scared that it cannot or will not get better. You want to love and to feel loved. You are so tired of faking it through life. It is too exhausting and empty feeling. You want to feel like you pretend to on your social media. You want to feel genuine and real. You want purpose in your life. You want to wake up and feel like you have a real reason to get out of bed each day. There is no magic stick but I do have the resources to help you. Even if you feel like therapy or healing services did not help, I invite you to try again. This time, with me and with different results. Most people find relief when they unstick themselves and feel like they are finally moving towards what they want. My goal is to teach you the tools to do just that.

Our offices are easily accessible by public transportation, are handicapped accessible, and provide off-street parking for your convenience. I believe therapy is a collaborative process toward healing and personal growth, where with trust and unconditional acceptance, people are reminded of and gently guided back to reconnecting with their own inner knowing. With a focus on integrating spirit, mind, and body, clients are empowered to define and achieve their goals in therapy as we work together to identify a plan of action that facilitates reaching those goals and affecting true change as quickly as possible. Helping clients identify and work toward reaching their goals while learning to be more present in the moment, and to thrive in life in pursuit of their highest good, is what I strive to help people accomplish in session. With the practice of mindfulness, and the help of other therapeutic interventions designed to reduce stress and anxiety, people can experience relief from self-doubt or self-consciousness, freedom from past defense mechanisms that may influence their reactions in the present, and freedom to reinvent themselves fearlessly without regard to what others may think of them. Health mind. Healthy Family.
Treatment is results oriented, which means we work together at the beginning to define the changes that are meaningful to you. In a basic sense, psychotherapy is for thinking about feelings. We are all part of systems, be they family, work or society. The outcome is more freedom to be yourself. With children, treatment approach is family-centered. In the long run, the best therapist for your child is you, the parent. Parent consultation is an integral part of treatment for children and teens. Play space, art therapy and parent observation available. Psychological testing and family meetings are options. In Couples Counseling or Marital Therapy the patient is the relationship. In couples treatment, i thoughtfully guide your interactions to encourage better understanding of each other. This approach reduces the tendency to blame one another for differences, and leads the two of you into your own manner of accepting them. Pet-Assisted Therapy (PAT).

We work one-on-one with clients acting as "personal mental health trainers" which allows us to respond to the unique needs of each individual. Our goal is to help you uncover your true potential in order to lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. If you're looking for a "personal mental health trainer" to provide extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, we look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.

Psychologist/Psychotherapist/Hypnotherapist: all age groups
Past Life Regression and Future Life Progression Therapist
I have been privileged to serve people, dealing with life issues, at different stages of their growth. Helping children overcome their abuse, anxieties, depression, relationship issues, to name a few, through psychotherapy was where I started. That also led to working with adults i.e, parents, grandparents. With Children I used also Play therapy and Activity group therapy. Thus working with all the different age groups was an outcome of the family therapy. This also led to working with parents by themselves without children's presence. I have used Hypnotherapy since 1980's including regression in this life time. Since 1995 I had been fortunate to work with Dr. Brian Weiss, the author of Many Lives, Many Masters. There, at the Weiss Institute, I have extended regression to past lives as well. Since 2002 I have been in my own private practice.

Since I enjoy working with many different ages, I provide psychotherapy and counseling to a wide range of clients; from preschoolers to retirees. What we have long suspected, and what science is now confirming, is that the relationship that develops in the therapy room is the most significant factor in the success of therapy. I understand how difficult starting the therapy process can be and do my best to make my clients feel comfortable and safe from the very beginning. I view the first few sessions as an assessment period for both of us since it is important that we both feel it is a good fit. I generally see my clients for 50 minute sessions, once a week. Occasionally, when it feels appropriate we'll meet a couple times in the week. The children's sessions are for 45 minutes. Please see my article on Children and Therapy for a more comprehensive description of my work with children.

I will work with you to improve harmony among these components of the self in order to increase positive and healthy functioning in your daily life. I work to assist you in identifying your fears, negative core beliefs and values, and how they have caused dysfunctional pat terns in your current personal, professional, and spiritual lives. Through treatment, I can help with modifying your unhealthy thoughts and coping skills. I can help you discover new mindfulness and body awareness techniques that will enhance your confidence, your physical, and emotional functioning. Using a strengths-based approach, I firmly believe that regardless of what obstacles you are facing, there is always hope and opportunity for change to occur. With my extensive training and experience with childhood development, I enjoy working with families with children, new parents (couples and singles), and pregnant/expecting women. I am able to assist families going through major life transitions such as divorce, remarriage and blended families, new babies or newly adopted children, coping with a miscarriage, and infertility issues. I am also qualified and competent at working with individuals, families, and children experiencing anxiety, depression, overall stress, job-related issues, life adjustment issues, trauma, domestic violence, parenting issues, and self-esteem issues. My experience working in community mental health and with survivors of domestic violence has helped me to be highly effective at quickly assessing a situation and creating an immediate plan of action for that day to begin the process of alleviating any stress or discomfort you are experiencing. Whether you are dealing with mental illness such as bipolar, or you are just in need of someone to talk to, I am here to be a fellow traveler with you as we process and tackle the issues you are facing! Specializing in working with Gay and lesbian on identity issues, anxiety, problems with intimacy, sexual addiction, communication skills, self-esteem and self-image, personal growth, life transitions, depression, past trauma, adoption, relationship, family issues, immigration issues, survivors of sexual abuse and HIV/AIDS. Late evening appointments. When facing life's difficult challenges, it is good to know that there are places that you can turn to for help and guidance. However, finding a therapist can be anxiety producing because when people decide they would benefit from seeing a therapist, they are often experiencing significant upset in their lives. This is usually not the ideal moment to be dealing with the stress involved in finding someone with whom it feels safe and right to be vulnerable. I am aware of this and I want you to know that when we meet you will find yourself in a comfortable setting where you will be able to tell your story in strict confidence and without the worries of judgment or pressure of any type. We will discuss what you are interested in working on and how I will be able to help you. There will be no pressure to make any decisions or commitments.
