Many of my clients live abroad or in rural areas where it may be difficult to find a psychotherapist to work with. All you need is Skype and PayPal and a quiet place for your online therapy sessions. Mindfulness Therapy is very focused on changing the underlying process that produces anxiety, depression and stress. Clients learn how to stop negative habitual reactive thinking, which is the first phase of Mindfulness Therapy. The second phase involves resolving the underlying emotions through the transformational effects of mindfulness. Most people see dramatic improvement within 3-4 sessions of online mindfulness therapy. In general. this approach is far more cost-effective and produces results in far shorter time than older styles of "talking therapy" where the client simply talks about their emotions. this is obviously an important part of psychotherapy and counseling, but not enough to transform the underlying reactive processes that produce the anxiety, depression or addiction. In order to produce lasting change you must learn how to form a non-reactive relationship with your emotions or traumatic memories based on mindfulness. Mindfulness is defined as the combination of intentional conscious awareness with compassion. This latter quality is immensely important for healing emotional suffering and that is why we emphasize making friends with your emotional pain. This is an art and mindfulness therapy teaches you exactly how to do this.
